Committee backs moving SLDS first report deadline to Sept. 15, 2026

Representative Weinberg, sponsor of House Bill 13‑08, told the committee the bill “is a simple but necessary adjustment to the implementation timeline for the statewide . . . State Longitudinal Data System or SLDS,” explaining the change allows more time for coordination across state departments.
The bill’s supporters said the extension will allow more complete data integration and stronger cross‑agency collaboration before OIT produces the initial report. Michael McReynolds, legislative liaison for the Office of Information Technology, testified in support and said the extra five months would “allow OIT and our partners to facilitate a more thorough data discovery process, ensure the selection of the most appropriate vendor for the system build and allow our necessary iterations on the product before the delivery of the first report.” He also stated the bill “has no fiscal impact.”
Representative Lott asked about project progress and whether a September 2026 deadline is sufficient; Representative Paschall clarified that the change moves the deadline from April 15, 2026, to September 15, 2026, and that OIT is entering the vendor selection phase. Committee members otherwise voiced support for the additional planning time, with Representative Paschall calling it “necessary.”
Vice Chair Clifford moved the bill to the Committee of the Whole with a favorable recommendation; the motion passed on a roll call with all members voting yes. The committee did not adopt any amendments.
The measure now moves to the Committee of the Whole for further consideration.
