Commission approves zoning, contracts and grants; clinical-trials office tabled

The Lauderhill City Commission on March 31 voted on a broad set of items that included land-use approvals, contract awards, grant acceptances and an award of the city's school-zone speed-camera contract. The commission also tabled action on a proposed clinical-trial clinic after public concern and asked staff for more information.

Among the votes the commission took: commissioners approved a plat-note amendment and related development-agreement extension for the Park at Lauderhill mixed‑use project (vote 5-0); approved a second amendment extending the developer's construction commencement date to July 1, 2025, with authority for the city manager to grant an additional six‑month extension (vote 5-0); approved a special-exception to allow indoor live entertainment as an accessory use at T Will's Island Restaurant in the Oakland Park plaza and amended conditions to permit live entertainment until 2 a.m. while retaining restrictions distinguishing restaurant entertainment from a nightclub (vote 5-0); and approved a land‑use variance to allow a new Wendy's drive‑thru inside 1,000 feet of other drive‑thru restaurants (vote 4-1).
