Sarah Bauer introduced herself to the Spokane City Council on April 7 as an applicant for the Community Health and Human Services (CHHS) liaison position and described her neighborhood and community experience.
"My name's Sarah Bauer and I'm from Spokane. I have a bachelor's degree from Western Washington University in Human Services. I... I'm secretary of my neighborhood council and I am the alternative rep to the community assembly," Bauer told council members during a short interview.
Bauer said she had stepped forward because the CHHS board needed a liaison and because of her background in human services; she acknowledged she had a learning curve about the board’s recent activity. Council members thanked her for stepping up and explained that the mayor's office would follow with the formal appointment and a council vote.
Council President Bree Wilkerson closed the short interview and said the mayor's office would contact Bauer and then the council would vote; Bauer’s appointment was not finalized during the agenda-setting meeting.
No public comment or additional qualifications were entered on the record; Bauer said she represents North Hill neighborhood council and serves as an alternate to the Community Assembly.
