Parks and Recreation staff said the move is intended to keep the department competitive for recruitment and retention as the state minimum wage will increase over the next three years. The staff packet included current rates and the proposed adjustments.
During the discussion, staff estimated the wage changes would cost the department approximately $100,000 per year. Trustees noted the large percentage increase reflected in the state schedule but said the adjustment is necessary to remain competitive, particularly after wage shifts that occurred during and following the COVID‑19 pandemic.
A motion to approve the wage adjustments passed unanimously.
