New communications committee pushes unified civic calendar, hybrid meeting guidance and toolkit updates

Krista Anderson, communications committee representative, said the committee formed in January 2024 to track CA accomplishments and create tools for self‑advocacy for neighborhood councils. The committee is drafting hybrid meeting recommendations and working to correct meeting information published by local news outlets.
Krista and other members described a proposed unified civic calendar that would aggregate meeting schedules for boards, commissions, neighborhood councils and the city. Council members expressed support but flagged the question of which organization would maintain the calendar and noted that media outlets already publish some meeting listings.
The committee also raised coordination with council communications staff and asked elected officials to call out neighborhood wins publicly. No formal policy was adopted; the committee requested input and assistance from council liaisons and the city communications office.
