Pinellas Park council notes Arbor Day proclamation, recognizes 25 years of service and swears in three officers; approves consent agenda and minutes

The City of Pinellas Park City Council used much of its March 13 meeting for ceremonial recognitions, public comment, routine approvals and consent items before proceeding with public hearings.
Mayor Sandra Lee Bradbury issued an Arbor Day proclamation recognizing March 15, 2025 as Arbor Day in Pinellas Park and invited residents to participate in the city’s Country in the Park Arbor Day activities. The council also presented a 25‑year service plaque to Corporal Joseph S. Puglia for his service with the Pinellas Park Police Department and recognized his prior military service.
The council swore in three new police officers: Madison Booth, Raul Carrenza and Omar Alan Ware. The swearing‑in included the standard oath to support and defend the constitutions of the United States and the State of Florida and Pinellas Park’s charter and laws. City staff pinned badges for the officers following the oath.
During the public‑comment period, resident Gary McDowell thanked staff and singled out “Jillian” for her work on a youth civic program; the commenter urged the city to consider running the program twice a year. Other public comments were related to upcoming community events.
On consent and routine business the council approved the regular council minutes of Feb. 27, 2025 by motion of Council member Butler. The council approved consent agenda items C1 through C9, with C3 and C4 listed as first readings prior to public hearings scheduled for March 27, 2025. Notable items on the consent agenda included:
- C7: NetApp enterprise network storage upgrade for the Police Department, estimated cost $119,512.35. - C8: First and final payment for emergency force main repairs (estimated $148,376.09). - C9: Guaranteed maximum price (GMP) addendum for RFQ 21/005 — public safety campus, GMP $29,891,458.
Council approved the consent agenda and the minutes by unanimous votes as recorded in the meeting.
The council also used the meeting to highlight upcoming community events — Chili Blaze (benefitting MDA) and Country in the Park (free event with proceeds to local nonprofits) — and to note free permit availability and summer‑camp registration dates. The meeting adjourned at the end of the evening.
