Pensacola — The Pensacola City Council unanimously approved a lease agreement with the University of West Florida (UWF) for Warehouse Number 8 at the Port of Pensacola on March 27 and adopted related budget adjustments.
Council approved the lease and authorized the mayor to finalize and administer the agreement. The lease was amended to change the commencement date from April 1 to July 1 and to make a minor punctuation revision; city staff said the changes did not alter the lease value. The council also adopted revised supplemental budget resolution 2025‑15 to reflect the lease and later adopted supplemental budget resolution 2025‑14 covering non‑encumbered carryovers in the general fund and law enforcement trust fund. Both supplemental budget resolutions passed on unanimous 7‑0 votes.
Mayor D.C. Reeves told the council the lease was written with flexibility so UWF could be moved to different port locations in the future as the Port of Pensacola develops. The mayor also said the lease arrangement supports related activity at the port, including the American Magic program and other users who will occupy or use port facilities.
