The motion was moved by Council Member Wiggins and seconded by Council Vice President Patton; the roll call vote was 7‑0.
During public comment on the item, James Gulley, a neighborhood resident, urged the city to ensure demolition of the existing dilapidated structure at the site, saying demolition now could save the city money later. Gulley noted bidding and demolition procedures and encouraged the city to follow through on the mayor’s offer to give the property owner a chance to demolish the structure before the city acted.
