City schedules Sand Hill Drive informational meetings; zoning-code consultant to present Feb. 3

During the director's report on Jan. 20 staff announced upcoming public meetings and project information regarding Sand Hill Drive and a zoning and subdivision code update.

Dwayne (director) said there will be two informational meetings about activity near Sand Hill Drive on the city's northeast side. The first is a neighborhood meeting referenced in local notices for Jan. 23 at the Holiday Inn Express Conference Center; the city will host a follow-up informational meeting on Feb. 5 at the same location. Staff said the Sand Hill Drive work is included in the City Council–approved 2025 capital improvement plan and would extend Sand Hill Drive west from the Deerfield/Home Depot/Mercy Northside Clinic area to the current terminus just west of North Wright Road; construction was described as planned for later in 2025 in the 2025 CIP.

Dwayne said an informational letter has been sent to affected residents, businesses and landowners and that a press release would include a link to the city's project website, which contains design and schedule information. He also reminded the commission that the city's consultant working on the zoning and subdivision code update, Gram (consultant name given as Grama), will present a status update and timeline at the plan commission meeting on Feb. 3.

Commissioners discussed possibly touring the Woodman Center; Dwayne said he would coordinate scheduling and notice. Staff encouraged commissioners to look for the press release and the informational letter for more details about Sand Hill Drive and other planning updates.
