The Village of Tuckahoe Planning Board unanimously approved an application Feb. 19 to convert a storefront at 84 Main Street into Perfect Barbershop, permitting up to five barber chairs, one backwash station and a reception area.
Owner Franz Nicolai described a barber operation that will begin with two barbers and grow as demand allows. The board approved a SEQRA negative declaration and added conditions: the applicant must maintain two off‑site parking spaces at all times (the board noted the village clerk had verbally identified two Lake Avenue spaces) and must acquire additional parking as new employees are retained.
During the hearing the applicant said daily hours would run approximately 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week, and that services would focus on short haircuts and family visits; the owner said the business historically takes time to fill additional chairs. The board discussion focused on parking and an administrable condition linking additional chairs/employees to additional parking, rather than requiring all five spaces immediately.
The resolution records that any deviation from the applicant’s representations may be cause for revocation. Roll call recorded all members voting in favor.
Notes: the approval imposes a condition to acquire parking tied to employee count; the building department will verify parking availability and formalize the condition in the permit process.
