Borman said the change codifies results of a recent election and involves a single edit to the county code: moving the REET end date to 2038. The council opened public testimony; no members of the public spoke on the item. Council member Paulson moved adoption of the ordinance; it was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Council members praised volunteers who had worked on the measure and marked the action as a long-sought result of community effort. The ordinance amendments were recorded as adopted at the meeting; the council did not discuss further implementing steps at length during the session.
