Sofia, county planning staff, told the committee the building permit application was submitted on Feb. 12 and is in the submittal completeness review. She said once the permit is in the county’s review queue she will add it to the committee’s agenda and route committee comments to the planning manager, Darcy Nielsen.
Committee members noted a cluster of pedestrian and vehicle conflicts near the grocery-store/post-office area and at the Weeks Road driveway. They said the food‑share distributions currently occurring at the site draw a large midday volume—one committee speaker said the food‑share session serves “200 plus households” during its peak—and that the food center’s planned driveway arrangement (in which customers would enter and exit via the same driveway) could create queuing and circulation issues that spill onto Weeks Road and nearby parking areas.
The committee requested county staff confirm whether the permit requires traffic studies or circulation plans and urged early coordination with Public Works. Sofia said the permitting process is handled across county teams and that she would escalate committee concerns to the planning manager and the county’s permit‑review consultants so the committee can comment early in the review process.
No binding action was taken at the Feb. 27 meeting; committee members asked staff to monitor the permit and place it on the committee’s agenda when it is ready for review.
