Clallam County commissioners hold short executive session on potential litigation, take no formal action

The Clallam County Board of County Commissioners met in a special executive session to discuss potential litigation under RCW 42.30.110; the session was scheduled to last no more than 30 minutes and the board returned to open session after about half an hour with no formal action taken.

County staff and commissioners said the session, which began at about 8:01 a.m., would run no more than 30 minutes. County attendees named in the meeting included Commissioner Mike French; Commissioner Mark Ozias; a representative from the county attorney’s office identified as Jay; Tammy Soliter from human resources and risk management; and staff members Randy Johnson and Earl. The board moved and seconded a motion to enter executive session until 8:30 a.m.; the record shows the motion was made and seconded but does not list who made or seconded it.

When the board returned to open session, officials said they had discussed a path forward for litigation and "agreed on option A." They said no formal action was required at that time and that the county attorney’s office would return to the commissioners if further guidance became necessary.

The meeting record does not show a roll-call vote or a public vote tally for the motion to enter the executive session. No ordinance, resolution, contract, budget action or other formal county decision was adopted during the public portion of this meeting.
