Harm Reduction Health Center reports higher reach, naloxone distribution and fewer fatal overdoses in 2024

Siri Forsman Sims, program lead for the Harm Reduction Health Center (HRHC), and Lisa Bridge, HHS communications specialist, briefed the Board of Health on March 8 about service expansion, participant counts and overdose surveillance.
Siri reported that the HRHC’s reach increased substantially in 2024. The program served about 371 participants in January 2024 and finished the year “just under 7,000 participants,” she said. Monthly counts peaked near 970 participants in January 2025 and dropped to around 600 in February 2025 after the program staffed additional warming-center days during a cold snap. Staff noted that expanded fixed hours in Port Angeles and more consistent coverage in Forks contributed to higher and steadier engagement.
