Clallam County staff told the Board of Commissioners on March 17 they are ready to hire two grant-funded positions for the Recompete program: a communications and media coordinator and a Recompete analyst/administrator. The positions are intended to support the county's customer-relationship-management rollout, website work and grant administration.
Why it matters: The new roles are designed to support implementation of the Recompete grant deliverables, including CRM implementation and reporting required for reimbursement.
A Recompete program staff member said both job descriptions have been approved by Human Resources and that funding for the positions is already allocated in the grant. Staff reported reimbursements have been forthcoming and that Washington, D.C. contacts do not foresee the grant funding being retracted. "She does not have any worries at all that money would be retracted in any way," staff said summarizing a conversation with a Recompete contact.
Commissioners raised general recruiting questions about grant-funded positions and were told that recruitment pools exist for candidates interested in project-based and grant-funded work. Staff said the positions will move forward through the county's hiring process and the board did not request additional follow-up.
Outcome and next steps: Staff will proceed with the hiring process for the communications/media coordinator and the Recompete analyst as HR-approved, grant-funded positions.
