Kelleher recounted several community-led reclamation projects — including volunteer repairs to tennis courts and ball fields — and listed possible county-supported projects: a BLM parking lot at Yakima RV Park, improvements to the Coal Mine Trail, a study and mitigation assessment for reopening the Doris Road to improve bicycle access to Washington State Parks’ trail network, wayfinding improvements along the Yakima River access points, and cost-sharing on community projects such as Eagle Scout efforts.
The board also noted correspondence from Pat Hillhert requesting approximately $100,000 from REET 2 capital funds (second-quarter allotment) to explore development of the abandoned Doris Road for bicycle access to the state park trail; the county clerk said the correspondence is on file and available for review.
