Council told a recreation coordinator promotion has been offered; parks will advertise for specialist

King said the appointment start date on paperwork was listed incorrectly and that the correct approval date would be March 5. He asked the council to approve Wychick’s promotion and to authorize advertising to refill the parks and recreation specialist role. King described the specialist position as grade 10 step 1 on the city pay scale with a starting wage of $22.12 per hour; he also said both positions are included in the 2025 budget.
King said the second round of recruiting produced nine applicants and noted the specialist role’s duties include customer service, programming support, marketing and website updates. Council members expressed support for internal advancement and asked routine recruiting questions; no formal action was taken during the work session.
