Water plant staff report DNR conservation certification; finance and hiring updates slated for next meetings

Water plant staff said the annual narrative report is complete, Department of Health required samples for March were collected and submitted for analysis, and the Department of Natural Resources water conservation report has been completed and certified. Staff also said they have started developing the lead and copper sampling site plan for the summer monitoring program. The presenter thanked co‑workers Marin, Jordan and Brianna for assistance collecting data for the DNR report and said he will attend a LAWA technical advisory committee meeting next week.
Finance staff (Brianna) told commissioners the city audit team will be on-site Monday through Wednesday next week; she was preparing items including the trial balance and expected to submit final materials to the auditors by Friday morning.
Energy‑efficiency and customer programs were mentioned: staff reported two recent rebates — one residential air‑source heat‑pump rebate and one small commercial rebate for two LED exterior fixtures at the Red River Potato Marketing building on Gateway. Staff also noted participation in the Forks Builders Home Show at the Purple Arena in Grand Forks the following weekend, with Water & Light partnering with the EDA at a booth.
Personnel and budget items: management said interviews were conducted for an assistant line foreman with internal candidates interviewed; managers planned to complete scoring and notify the successful applicant by the next day and bring the hire to the commission for approval at the next meeting. Staff also said preliminary steps on the 2026 budget process had begun and a representative would attend an upcoming MMPA board meeting.
No formal commission action was taken on these informational items; staff will return with hiring and budget items for formal approval when ready.
