Public Works staff presented final plans and specifications for the Lift Station 13 rehabilitation and described next steps to bid and construct the work.
Project scope includes replacing deteriorated piping and fittings in the wet well, replacing valving and fittings in the valve pit, installing a flow meter to improve monitoring and constructing an approximately 8‑by‑8‑foot control building to protect electrical controls from winter exposure. Staff also proposed a 12‑foot concrete driveway to provide dedicated access to the lift station; the homeowner adjacent to the site reviewed the plans and supported the new driveway.
City engineer Jason Emery (presenting) said the control building will be anchored on a concrete slab, finished with maintenance‑free engineered siding and a metal roof with a steeper pitch to fit neighborhood aesthetics. Council members asked whether future development north of 20 Third Street would alter the station’s role; Emery said the gravity sewer in the area should allow future service without a second lift station but that a larger development could change pump sizing.
Staff said they plan to finalize the plan/spec package and set a bid date of April 8 with advertising to follow. No formal action was recorded during the presentation; staff will return with the final documents for authorization to advertise and bid.
