The Little Falls City Council met in a special work session called to order at 7:00 a.m. and discussed logo options for the Little Falls Golf Course and ongoing clubhouse matters, including lease negotiations and maintenance needs.
Council members heard from Finance Director Hannah about the golf course’s branding after the facility’s name changed from Little Falls Country Club to Little Falls Golf Course. Finance Director Hannah said the council does not have the original logo artwork and that replacements for flags, scorecards and other supplies will be needed soon. “We wanted to talk to you briefly about what to do with that,” Hannah said.
The discussion focused on whether to keep the existing graphic and change the wording from “Country Club” to “Golf Course,” or to commission a new, more modern logo from local designers. Council members noted the desire for a simple mark that could be used in multiple sizes (a full logo and a smaller monogram for hats and polos) and that some temporary items could use a simpler mark while a final logo is developed. One council member said the current logo “looks great” and argued a name change alone might suffice.
The council also received a clubhouse update. A council speaker reported that a prospective operator named Tom had been visiting the clubhouse regularly, bringing vendors and preparing a business plan. The council member said Tom indicated he would present a counterproposal and requested a meeting with council representatives; staff said they had not yet received a finalized lease draft. Finance Director Hannah said preliminary lease figures are “on the low end of market” but that negotiations remain in early stages.
On facility maintenance, staff said a prioritized to-do list is being assembled with input from Ethan and Josh to identify remaining work in the clubhouse. Items highlighted included obtaining estimates for a replacement or repaired deck, installing additional doors depending on operational needs, finishing a proposed pro shop in a former simulation room, and addressing a nonworking electric fireplace. Staff said the fireplace is electric and plugged into the wall but could not be made to work by on-site staff; higher-skilled inspection may be needed. Flags, scorecards and merchandise racking for the pro shop were also noted as pending purchases.
No motions or votes were recorded on branding, the lease or repairs during the session. The council directed staff to continue gathering information — including cost estimates and a lease draft — and to follow up with the prospective operator about his planned presentation. The special work session adjourned at 7:14 a.m.
The matters discussed — branding and the lease/repairs — will return to the council for further review when staff has obtained logos or cost estimates and when a lease draft is ready for council consideration.
