Council to keep squad cars on Enterprise lease while staff evaluates buying vehicles for utilities and public works

City staff told the Little Falls City Council Feb. 3 that the city will continue with Enterprise leasing for squad cars for now while staff evaluates purchasing some vehicles outright for water, wastewater and public works.
A councilmember asked whether the city intended to continue the Enterprise lease; a staff member confirmed that the current intent for the squads is to remain in the Enterprise program. The staff member said they are “in the process of evaluating 1 for the water, 1 for the waste. And we'd be looking at acquiring those outright, if we're if we're able to.” The staff added, “But that'll be most likely on the next agenda if I can get pricing from the vendors sooner rather than later.”
Separately, the council discussed municipality-owned vehicles tied to the fire department. Staff said one department vehicle is currently under lease and would be bought out after the first year of the lease. Councilmembers also mentioned declaring a city Durango vehicle surplus in the near future.
No formal motions or votes were recorded during the special session. Staff said they will return with pricing and a recommendation for council consideration at a future meeting.
