The appointment was on the session’s agenda. A staff member asked whether the council would be comfortable allowing Jennings to start the day after the meeting and “ratify and confirm that at the next meeting so he didn't have to wait,” and a councilmember replied, “My opinion, my consensus is go ahead.” Another councilmember said, “Me too. That's good.” No formal vote was recorded during the special work session.
The council opened the meeting with a public forum announcement; no members of the public spoke. The annual fire report scheduled for the session was postponed because the fire chief was absent due to illness.
City staff said the formal ratification would appear on the next council meeting agenda for confirmation. The council did not record a motion, mover, second, or vote during the Feb. 3 session.
