Muscle Shoals Board approves consent items, accepts multiple retirements; summer reading camp short on state funding

The Muscle Shoals Board of Education approved the meeting agenda, minutes, a consent package and a personnel report at its regular meeting, and discussed funding gaps for the district’s summer reading program.

The actions matter because the personnel report names multiple classroom and district staff who will leave or retire this spring and summer, prompting searches for replacements, and because the district said state support covers roughly half the expected cost of its summer learning program.

The board opened the meeting with roll call and unanimously approved the agenda and the minutes from the Feb. 25 regular meeting. It then approved the consent agenda, which the superintendent said included February financial reports, a FY25 budget amendment (previously discussed at a work session), a science textbook adoption recommended by the district textbook committee, and two land‑surveying service proposals from GMC Architects. The board also approved the personnel report.
