San Bernardino County History Day draws more than 200 student competitors

The contest brought together students from across the county working on projects that met the competition’s criteria, Alejandre said. “The dedication of these students reflected not only their passion for history, but also their ability to think critically and creatively,” he said.
A student who spoke during the program said, “I think history is just, really important in general and kids get to be creative, get to use different skills that they learn in class to really make something that they can be proud of.”
The county-level event provided a forum for students to present research and creative work; Alejandre noted the entries required substantial preparation. Details on winners or which projects will advance beyond the county level were not specified.
The History Day competition was presented as part of the San Bernardino County Office of Education’s calendar of student achievement events this year.
