Katie Fortenberry, a licensed clinical psychologist in primary care, said she has used MBB for about two years and wants to maintain her certification so she can teach the method to others.
Fortenberry told the meeting that she uses MBB frequently in short primary-care visits to help patients calm down and shift into a better mental state. “In primary care, I'm usually able to see patients for very short short visits, and I find MBV useful for helping them to very quickly understand how they can help themselves to calm down and get into a better mental state,” she said.
In her role as an educator for physicians, Fortenberry said she teaches psychological and psychiatric skills and uses MBB to help clinicians recognize when they are in a state of mind that may impair decision-making. She said this helps clinicians “be present with their patients and be able to do the best jobs that they can.”
Fortenberry said she has been certified in MBB for about two years and that she wants to continue her certification and expand instruction to other clinicians. “Once it clicks, it, it changes your life. It changes your practice,” she said.
The transcript does not record any formal action, vote, or decision related to Fortenberry’s remarks.
