County clerk’s office interim staffing, special executive interviews set; human-resources director search under way

Tammy Peterson is serving as interim county clerk and is assisted by newly appointed deputy clerk Katie Schultz; staff said they have handled recent election responsibilities and an unexpected pipe break in the clerk’s office. County administrators thanked staff who assisted with elections and emergency repairs and said security was provided during the incident.
The board was told that seven applicants for the permanent clerk position had been narrowed to four finalists, who will take part in interviews before the executive committee at a special meeting scheduled for Thursday at 9 a.m. Committee members plan to interview the finalists via Zoom; any county supervisor who wishes to observe may be made a panelist. The executive committee will make a recommendation to the full board, which will make the final appointment.
Separately, staff said the county had accepted and evaluated applications for a newly created human-resources director position; the role is intended to oversee performance appraisal processes, a wage study, implementation of the board’s bonus/ performance-pay resolution, and other system-wide HR functions. Staff expected interviews later in the week and a final decision soon thereafter.
