Government center renovation near completion; project $249,000 over estimate, officials say

On costs, staff reported the project was about $249,000 over the estimate (described as about 2–3% over). That number reflects a combination of additional change orders — the largest identified as added door hardware and lock devices — and smaller credits for work not performed, such as eliminating a chain-link fence. The presenters said contingency funds have been used and that the project team is tracking credits and change orders to narrow the variance.
Officials said the project team remained confident the work would move forward with minor punch-list items and continued equipment deliveries. The board was briefed on next steps and the team’s plan for final closeout activities.
