Alderman Mike Farha resigns; city lays out appointment process for Ward 4 vacancy

Mayor and council described the vacancy-filling process for Ward 4: interested residents should contact the mayor’s office or John McCoy, chairman of the Adams County Republican Party; the precinct committee people within Ward 4 will evaluate applicants, may seek additional information, and recommend a candidate to the mayor. The mayor will then forward a nomination to the city council for ratification. The replacement will serve the unexpired term, which is up for election in two years, the mayor said.
Council members expressed appreciation for Farha’s institutional knowledge and service and asked staff to accept applications and route them to the precinct committee. No formal appointment was made at the March 3 meeting.
