Council committee approves St. Patrick’s sound waiver and StreetFest street closures, cites cost revisions

The Administration, Technology & Community Health Committee approved a waiver of the Village of Palatine’s sound-amplification ordinance for a St. Patrick’s event at Tap House Grill on March 15 and approved items related to the Village’s 2025 StreetFest, including street closures and forthcoming temporary liquor-license approvals.
Staff said the Tap House request is consistent with prior years and that the owner of Tap House was present. For StreetFest, staff reported the village has entered into a contract with a new event-management company; the approvals before the committee cover street closures and the administrative steps required to run the event on Aug. 22–24. Staff said the new management company proposed some “fresh ideas” and cost revisions intended to align the event more closely with the budget.
Council members praised staff for reducing costs and for prioritizing local restaurants. Councilman Millar thanked staff “for driving down some of the costs” and urged organizers to “look at the restaurants in town first for vendors.” The committee approved both items and placed them on the council consent agenda.
