Village awards 2025 resurfacing contract, approves asphalt purchase and drainage change order

The Infrastructure & Environment Committee on Monday recommended awarding the Village’s 2025 street-resurfacing contract to the low compliant bidder, whose proposal came in a little more than 10% under the program budget. The committee also approved a joint purchase of asphalt surface binder and cold patch and authorized change order No. 1 for the 2024 drainage improvements contract to allow point repairs ahead of resurfacing.
Public works staff told the committee they received competitive bids for annual resurfacing and that the low compliant bid provided savings compared with the budget. Staff said they might consider adding additional streets to the contract once a larger road project that is being bid later this month is resolved, and expected to revisit expansion of the resurfacing list in March.
On materials, staff said the village joined neighboring communities to run a consolidated bid for asphalt binder and cold patch; the recommended award was roughly 5% below previous spot-market expectations and secures material pricing for the season.
For drainage, staff recommended a change order to perform point storm-sewer repairs in areas scheduled for resurfacing. Doing the drainage work before paving avoids disturbing new wearing surfaces. Staff said the work is part of the 2025 sewer-fund budget and recommended approval.
All three items were approved in committee and will be placed on the council’s consent agenda.
