The Infrastructure and Environment Committee recommended, and the council approved, a two-year extension of the village’s parkway tree-trimming contract for the 2025–2026 period.
Staff said the current contractor has performed well and offered to extend the contract at no increase in price. The contract was procured through the Municipal Partnering Initiative, and staff recommended continuation. The village’s operating budget will fund the work; staff identified the maintenance budget at just over $131,000.
The scope described to the committee covers parkways within a boundary roughly bounded by Rolling Road, Dundee Road, Hicks Road and the railroad tracks. Council members asked whether the contract included management of silver maples; staff clarified the extension covers trimming only and that removals and replanting would be managed under a separate process.
A vote in committee and then in the council approved the extension. Staff indicated the contractor agreed to the two-year extension with no increase in costs.
