Kansas school nurse group updates medication guidelines to add stock albuterol, naloxone and clarify storage/access

Angela Anderson, president of the Kansas School Nurse Organization, told the Practice Committee of the Kansas Board of Nursing that her group has revised its draft medication administration guidelines for schools to reflect recent legislative changes and updated best practices.

Anderson said the organization expanded its guidance on stock emergency medications after recent law changes and practitioner input. "We made some changes because of the laws where pharmacists don't have to oversee those kits anymore," Anderson said.
