Court approves TxDOT advanced funding agreement for CR 385 railroad crossing in Precinct 2

The Tarrant County Commissioners Court approved Resolution 12‑25 March 11 to enter an advanced funding agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for maintenance and safety improvements at the railroad crossing on County Road 385 in Precinct 2.
Ed Adcock, TxDOT rail division program manager, told the court that federal Section 130 funds will cover installation of signs and markings and other crossing upgrades at no cost to the county; the local roadway authority’s responsibility is to maintain signs and markings after TxDOT completes the work. “We will pay for everything to do with that crossing, install signs, markings, and everything at no cost to this county. All the county has to do is maintain the signs and markings after we pick up and leave,” Adcock said.
Commissioner Kendrick said the crossing has a history of vehicles becoming stuck and welcomed the TxDOT assistance. The court voted 4‑0 to approve the resolution and directed staff to obtain signatures on the agreement; the court also requested that all commissioners sign the resolution document before it is sent to TxDOT.
Ending: Commissioners and TxDOT staff said TxDOT plans to extend a broader signage and markings program to other county crossings in the next year or two at no county construction cost; the county’s maintenance obligation will remain in place after TxDOT completes work.
