The NFP Review Board voted unanimously Tuesday to recommend that the Kalamazoo City Commission appoint Logan Rowe to a full three‑year term on the board.
The recommendation came after staff and current board members described Rowe's entomology experience and previous work with Michigan Natural Features Inventory (MNFI) rare‑species reviews. Nolan, a city planning staff member, told the board Rowe is “very well qualified” and noted Rowe has experience with pollinators and invasive insect issues that intersect with the board's natural‑features work.
Board members said Rowe fills an ecology‑oriented seat the board has been seeking. Nolan told members the board had two applicants during the quarter and that Rowe previously applied when different expertise was required; Rowe missed a scheduled interview this time because of illness but remained interested in serving.
Board members voted by roll call. Hollander, Frederickson, Fuller, Leto, Martin and Bassett all recorded “yes.” Nolan said, if the board's recommendation moves forward, staff will work with the clerk to place the appointment on a City Commission agenda in late April and, if approved there, Rowe's term would begin in May.
No members voiced opposing views during the discussion. There were no public comments on the item.
