Tom Green County court approves consent agenda, plats, small grants and administrative items; blanket vote list

Tom Green County Commissioners Court on Feb. 4 approved the meeting’s consent agenda and a number of routine administrative and land-use items, accepted a small federal grant allocation through the city of San Angelo, approved two final plats, authorized a purchase order to a local body shop and accepted a memorandum of understanding to reimburse a local chamber for cleanup costs under a regional solid-waste grant. The court took no action on the county burn ban.

The consent agenda approved prior minutes and routine financial reports, including a treasurer’s claims register cited on the record at $868,104.64 and a bills-paid report read aloud by the clerk (amount recorded on the transcript as “624 and 80 7 seats,” not specified). The court also approved purchase orders totaling $178,122.47 and accepted multiple monthly reports, including a district clerk collection of $60,983.98 and justice of the peace collections (December 2024 report of $16,853.99).

On land use, the court approved the final plat for County Corner Estates in Precinct 1 after brief discussion and approved the final plat of Gonzales Subdivision, Section 1 (a 10-acre tract subdivided into roughly 2-acre lots with direct abutting access) after the property representative described the development.

The court accepted the 2025 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant award from the city of San Angelo and adopted a budget for the county’s portion of the award in the amount of $6,907. Sheriff Hanna said the county will use its portion for radar equipment as planned.

The court also approved a purchase order to San Angelo Body Shop for $1,404.37 to cover repairs after shop workmanship and paperwork issues left a county vehicle without required lug nuts, which led to additional damage.

Administrative items approved included authorization to hold commissioners court at the Edby Keyes Building as the primary location for 2025 and approval to allow the court to meet at other government facilities in the county with notice, pursuant to Texas Local Government Code 81.005(d). The court confirmed committee and advisory appointments for 2025, including swapping internal positions among commissioners for boards and adding Crystal Drescher (JJC) to the safety/loss-control committee. The court also continued the grievance committee composition using elected officials and three public members as described on the record under the cited local code.

The court accepted a memorandum of understanding with the Christoval Chamber to reimburse the chamber for roll-off costs associated with a community cleanup event, using funding from the Concho Valley Council of Governments (CVCOG) solid-waste grant accepted earlier. Commissioner Nanny explained the MOU requires county procurement rules to be followed and allows reimbursement for eligible expenses.

Item-by-item votes were handled by motion and second with aye votes recorded and no recorded opposition on the items brought to a vote. Several items were handled on the consent agenda with no separate discussion.
