Kim Austin Smith, assistant HR director for talent, planning and engagement, told the Travis County Commissioners Court during early public comment that the county will hold a job fair Thursday, March 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 700 Lavaca.
Smith said attendees will be able to speak with department representatives, complete applications on county-provided laptops and network with hiring managers. The announcement highlighted openings in building services, labor, health care, criminal justice, park technician roles, engineers and attorneys.
Smith also encouraged public-service employees transitioning from the federal government to review county positions, saying the county offers "competitive pay, very good benefits, and opportunities for remote work." She asked commissioners to share the event via their social-media channels. No action was taken on the announcement; it was delivered during the early public-comment period.
Job fair details: March 27, 2025; 10 a.m.โ2 p.m.; 700 Lavaca. Departments to be represented include building services, health care, criminal justice, parks, engineering and the county attorney's office.
