Trenton City Council on Jan. 2 swore in two new members to the CIC and approved a set of routine appointments and minutes while formally excusing one council member from the evening's meeting.

The council administered the oath to Marcy Butts and Thomas Keane to join the CIC. The meeting record shows the two took the oath before the council and were welcomed by council members.

Council members approved the minutes of the Dec. 19, 2024 work session and the Dec. 19, 2024 regular meeting without amendment. The body also voted to approve appointments to various boards and commissions “per Exhibit A,” as recorded in the meeting packet.

Although Councilman Nichols was not present at the Jan. 2 meeting, the council voted to excuse his absence. Separately, the council approved a motion to appoint Councilman Nichols to continue serving on the Planning Commission for a term ending Dec. 30, 2025.

Several council members offered brief remarks welcoming the new CIC appointees and extending New Year greetings. The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn at 7:45 p.m.
