Council adopts resolution to continue participation in Montgomery County hazard mitigation plan

City council approved Resolution 14-2025 to accept the 2024 Montgomery County Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan so the city remains eligible for FEMA mitigation funding.
Council considered Resolution 14-2025, “A resolution to continue participation in a multi-jurisdictional hazard mitigation plan in conjunction with the Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management.” City Manager Holloway introduced the item and explained that, under the Disaster Mitigation Act, jurisdictions seeking FEMA hazard-mitigation funding must maintain an up-to-date mitigation plan; the county plan is typically updated every five years.
Council moved and seconded the resolution; the motion carried on a recorded roll call (see Actions). In presenting the plan, Holloway said accepting the county plan satisfies FEMA requirements and preserves the city’s eligibility for federal mitigation grants.
The council did not amend the plan during the meeting; the resolution is an acceptance of the countywide document and a housekeeping action to remain eligible for grant programs.
