City approves neighborhood enterprise zone certificates for four Muskegon lots

Neighborhood Enterprise Zones are intended to lower the taxable millage on qualifying homes, reducing property tax bills by roughly half for certificate holders, City development analyst Jocelyn Hines told commissioners. Hines said developers and recent homebuyers have reported that the tax relief helps mortgage underwriters approve loans that otherwise might be denied because of tax burden.
