City engineer: sewer-line improvements near substantial completion; finance reports tax-subpoena recoveries

City Engineer Tim McLawick told the Willowick City Council the ongoing sewer-line improvements are nearing substantial completion, and restoration work is expected to start within the next two to three weeks.
"They're near substantial completion for the sewer line improvements. Next week they'll begin restoration," McLawick said during the council meeting. He said having crews complete the work in a single sequence simplified restoration scheduling and that the project should wrap up in two to three weeks.
Finance Director Sheryl Bennett briefed the council on a tax-subpoena program. Bennett reported the program produced just over $485,000 in penalties and interest; she said the city has received $135,124 in payments so far and that the outstanding balance is $349,009.38.
"The tax penalty and interest totaled a little over 485,000, of which we received a hundred and 35,124 so far in payments, and the outstanding balance is $349,009.38," Bennett said. She added some amounts were likely waived and offered to answer questions from council.
