Resident petition asks Minnetrista for painted crosswalks on Boulevard; council to discuss at April work session

A Minnetrista resident asked the City Council to install two painted crosswalks and signs along the Boulevard, delivering a petition he said gathered about 80 signatures from the immediate neighborhood.
"I'm here to petition the city to put in 2 painted crosswalks and signs along the Boulevard," resident Aaron Genicke told the council, saying the signatures were collected from neighbors on Foxglove Drive, Grainsville Drive and adjacent homes.
Mayor Lisa Layla told Genicke the council had asked staff to gather this information and that the council will place the item on its first work session in April for discussion. "I'm gonna ask that we put this on our work session, our first work session in April," the mayor said during the meeting.
Chris Ruppin, who identified himself as president of the Windsor Homeowner Association, spoke during persons to be heard and framed the question as one involving personal responsibility as well as infrastructure. "I think this kinda comes up with a matter of personal accountability for pedestrians and drivers," Ruppin said.
Council did not take immediate action; the petition and supporting materials will be reviewed by staff and discussed at the April work session before any formal decision is scheduled.
