Council members said they would be willing to meet with the EDA and consider a closed session for discussion of acquisition strategy if the EDA brings current valuation, marketing or broker estimates. Several council members said they had received informal indications that brokers and EDA members were working on numbers but there was not yet a single set of current financials. Staff and council emphasized alignment between EDA strategy and council direction before incurring appraisal or acquisition costs.
No formal vote was required — city staff characterized the directive as council direction to proceed with a Feb. 25 workshop, pending updated financial information from EDA or a broker. Council asked staff to confirm whether the EDA has the funds to act and whether council would consider bridge loans if an acquisition were proposed; members also asked that any negotiating committee include multiple council or EDA members rather than a single individual negotiating alone.
