EDA schedules joint council workshop Feb. 25; staff reports Elevate Hennepin snapshot and sidewalk timing
Summary
The EDA agreed to a half‑hour joint session with the city council on Feb. 25, reviewed an Elevate Hennepin snapshot (five Dayton businesses received 141 hours of assistance in 2024), and reiterated long‑term sidewalk replacement plans for the Old Village slated for 2029.

During staff and board updates on Feb. 18 the Dayton EDA agreed in consensus to meet jointly with the city council for approximately 30 minutes on Feb. 25 to discuss several topics, including forfeited properties. Members confirmed availability for the Feb. 25 afternoon workshop where possible.
Staff presented an "Elevate Hennepin" snapshot included in the meeting packet. Staff said the county program provided services to five Dayton businesses in 2024 and recorded 141 hours of assistance; staff did not provide the businesses' names in the packet. The EDA noted prior discussion about funding and attorney review that required council action rather than an EDA vote on certain Elevate‑related items.
On infrastructure, members asked about Old Village sidewalk repairs. Staff said full sidewalk replacement is programmed for 2029 but that spot repairs or leveling for trip hazards can be done sooner; members asked that the item remain on the EDA’s old‑business list so it does not drop off future agendas.
No formal votes were recorded; the EDA set the joint workshop date and asked staff to prepare the Elevate snapshot materials and to keep sidewalk repairs and other older items on the board’s radar.
