County commissioner briefs Wyoming council on Highway 8 layout and upcoming corridor study

A county commissioner told the City of Wyoming council on March 18 that the Highway 8 layout affecting the city is nearing resubmission and that county-led study work is beginning on a larger corridor study.
Commissioner Motzka said he expects the Highway 8 resubmission and that county staff member Mister Triplett will come to the city council within the next two months to solicit local input on final plans. “Mister Triplett will be coming to your city council. I hope to accompany this to listen, so that you are advised and you can get your input as to the final plans,” Motzka said.
Motzka also reported that Chisago County recently hired engineering firm WSB to study the I‑35/County State Highway 22 corridor to develop preferred alternatives. He said the county approved the engagement and expected the study to begin in about 45 days, with significant city input as a first step toward identifying funding options. “That has been approved and that will be starting in the next maybe 45 days or so,” he said.
The commissioner emphasized the need to pursue federal and state funds to support projects generated by the study. Council members asked if there was anything they should be doing now; Motzka replied he would remain for the full meeting and would provide updates when available.
The remarks came during the open forum portion of the council meeting, not as a formal agenda item; no formal council action was taken on the highway items at this meeting.
