Committee returns RS 32,602 (Ombudsman repeal) to sponsor after members raise concerns about foster-care oversight

Alfieri described RS 32,602 as an effort to align statute with budget realities after the position was left unfunded in the most recent budget process. "The position was unfunded and unfilled last year, so this is an attempt to catch up with reality," Alfieri said.

Representative Crane said he would move to print the RS but would not schedule a full hearing until JFAC and Health and Welfare provided answers to the committee’s questions. Representative Mickelson moved a substitute motion to return RS 32,602 to the sponsor. The committee approved the substitute motion by voice vote; the RS will be returned to the sponsor for further work rather than advance in the committee.
