County staff described steps taken after a Richmond-area water plant advisory prompted boil-water messages in neighboring jurisdictions, and they summarised local testing, communications and bottled-water distribution.
Utilities staff said Goochland receives water in the area from Henrico County and that it was “very unlikely that water from the city [of Richmond] ever made it to Goochland in that period,” but the county issued precautionary communications after Henrico’s advisory. County staff said they distributed more than 850 cases of bottled water to affected customers, inspected fire hydrants to restore pressure and sent targeted CodeRED alerts to utility customers. County communications emphasized the county website as the official source for updates.
On broadband, interim county administrator Manny Alvarez said Firefly deployment has expanded and that by the end of the year most residents should have Firefly service available. The county displayed a map showing areas already in service and neighborhoods in engineering or field-data collection phases. Officials noted some lines are being built on utility poles and that last-mile drops remain to be completed before service activation.
Ending: Officials urged residents to register for CodeRED and to check the county website for authoritative updates on utilities and broadband availability.
