Sarah Worley, Goochland County’s economic development director, told the town hall that the county is pursuing commercial development along the Rockville Opportunity Corridor (Ashland Road) and highlighted two large industrial projects under way.
“Most of you will know this as Ashland Road,” Worley said of the Rockville Opportunity Corridor. Worley said Axial Rockville 64 is under construction: two distribution-style industrial buildings totaling about 335,000 square feet. She also said Project Rocky, an e-commerce fulfillment center, is under development and company representatives “hope to be operational in 2026.”
Worley outlined smaller-lot industrial opportunities at the Oroville exit and in Midpoint (14 lots planned at the Oroville site) and described HG Meats, a local meat-processing facility serving area farmers. Interim county administrator Manny Alvarez said commercial growth helps stabilize residential tax rates; he and Worley identified a county goal of shifting the property tax base from about 81% residential / 19% commercial toward roughly a 70/30 split.
Worley also encouraged residents to view a new project website at GoochlandVA.US/ROC for status updates and timelines on transportation and development work along the corridor.
Ending: Worley said county staff are actively recruiting businesses and are meeting regularly with existing employers to retain and expand the commercial tax base that supports local services.
