City planning staff presented the list of properties and recommended the lowest and best bidders for each address. The addresses and award recommendations were read into the record; staff said the work is part of an ongoing effort that has removed roughly 250 structures over the last 10 years.
The motion to award the demolition contracts passed unanimously. Council praised staff for progress on code enforcement and neighborhood beautification and noted restoration of funding for the demolition program after recent budget constraints.
Contractors and individual addresses listed during the council meeting included (as read into the record): 1018 Fourth Street, 2308 Fourth Street, 2607 Seventh Street, 1310 Ninth Street, 712 Tenth Street, 4408 Bob Hall Road, 1602 Carter Street, 2419 Clark Lane, 802 DuPont Drive, 1110 DuPont Drive, 1227 DuPont Drive, 1003 Elm Avenue, 207 Myers Street, 2220 Norwood Drive, 735 Old Timers Road, 910 Rain Avenue, and 2303 Simmons Drive. Several of those awards were to Caesar Landscaping & Construction and The Lark Group among others.
Staff said the awarded contractors were the lowest and best bidders and that the demolition work advances public safety and neighborhood revitalization goals. The motion passed with all present council members voting aye.
