Council expands Recode Rowlett committee and appoints two neighborhood representatives

The Rowlett City Council voted unanimously on March 18 to expand the Recode Rowlett ad hoc committee and appoint two neighborhood representatives to fill vacancies.
Council moved to add a third citizen/neighborhood leader slot to the committee and appointed Mark Damron and Tamara Williams to those positions. The motion to appoint and expand the committee passed 5-0.
Council members spoke in support of Mark Damron’s community involvement and leadership training, and several members noted other qualified applicants who had applied for the single vacancy. Council Member Bowers and others praised Damron’s participation in local leadership programs; Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Shinder also supported his appointment. Council Member Bowers additionally voiced support for Tamara Williams based on her long-term residency and professional background.
City staff confirmed the committee expansion and asked that a correction be made to the spelling of an unrelated appointee’s name (Kelli McKee was noted to be spelled Kelli, not Kelly) in city records.
The appointments and committee expansion were approved in a single amended motion. The council vote was 5-0.
