County extension office highlights Farm-to-School outreach, shooting sports training and stock show schedule

An extension staff member identified in the record as Miss Denver said she and a colleague attended Farm-to-School training in College Station to connect local producers with area schools so that school food can be locally sourced. Denver also said the county hosted 60 people for a shooting sports coaches training required for those coaching 4‑H shooting sports activities. She noted the county’s stock show begins Saturday, Jan. 18, with baked foods, commercial heifers and the horse show running through the week.
Denver encouraged community members to attend and asked for volunteers to judge the baked foods show; she said there were 258 entries this year for baked foods. Commissioners asked follow-up questions about the events and thanked Denver for the report; no formal action was required of the court.
